Durham have bolstered their fast bowling stocks ahead of a return to Division One in the English County Championship with the signing of Australian cult hero Scott Boland.
The Australian seamer terrorised England in the 2021/22 Ashes with 18 wickets in three Tests, including taking 6-7 in Melbourne on debut.
He also featured in two matches of this summer’s drawn series.
Boland is set to link up with this year’s Division Two champions from the start of next season and will be available for the club in both the championship and Vitality Blast until the end of July.
“I’m very excited to be joining Durham for the upcoming season,” said the 34-year-old, who has taken 35 wickets in 10 Tests at an incredible average of 20.34.
“I’m keen to add my skills to an already strong squad and help Durham contend for the championship in Division One.
“I’m eager to join a strong bowling group and work alongside some new faces.
“I feel the time is right for me to play county cricket. I’ve always wanted to and (I’m) grateful for Durham for giving me the opportunity.”
